Based on our DVTA member survey feedback, many of our members really want to hone their skills on translation tools. So, we are offering seminars on two of the most popular tools. No laptops are required for either seminar, and you may come to one or to both. Corporate DVTA member, CETRA Inc., has graciously offered the use of its conference room for these events. We hope to see you there!
SDL Trados Studio 2011 – Morning Presentation
During this 2.5-hour presentation, Rosalie Wells will explain and demonstrate some of the most outstanding features of one of the market leaders in translation memory software. Rosalie will explain the differences between the SDL product offerings. Attendees will learn how to download and begin working with the 30-day trial of SDL Trados Studio 2011. Current users of SDL Trados 2007 will leave with the knowledge to migrate to the newer program and still use their legacy memories. Current users of Studio 2009 will learn about new features such as Track Changes, using Word bilingual files, enhanced review processes and handling updates with perfect match. Presenter will welcome questions from attendees.
Wordfast Pro 3.1 – Afternoon Presentation
Wordfast is the world’s #1 provider of platform-independent Translation Memory technology. During this 2.5-hour presentation, Rosalie Wells will explain the differences between the Classic, Pro, and Anywhere versions. Attendees will learn how to download and begin working with the free trial versions of the Classic and Pro versions. Rosalie will demonstrate Features such as Unlimited TM and Glossary Access, Bilingual Review (with track changes, in Word) and Real Time Quality Assurance. Attendees will be able to see how the time-saving AutoComplete feature works along with other productivity enhancement functions. Presenter will welcome questions from attendees.
Rosalie Wells, a native of Mexico, has been a freelance translator for 28 years. As a translator going from translating with a typewriter to being fully involved from the early stages of software localization, Rosalie has always been fascinated by technology and how to use it to advance her freelance career. Her experience with Computer-Assisted Translation tools (now more aptly named Translation Environment Tools or TEnTs), began with XL-8. She soon moved on to IBM Translator Manager, later to Trados Workbench, and since has worked with Transit, DéjàVu, SDLX, Across, Studio and Wordfast.
